Hey, I'm Em!

get to know me

A series of candid portrait shots showing a person in a black jacket and jeans against a light background.

I'm a 30-something Mum of three beautiful, wild kids and I'm married to my farmer husband/best friend.

I've been doing this (photo taking) for 9 years, but my obsession for documenting started looong before that.

As a kid, I wrote stories and filled multiple journals with ramblings about my day-to-day life; at one point I started weekly "family" newsletters that I typed up in word and handed around to the whole family at the dinner table. I also wrote plays and made everyone watch me reenact them. At some point (and probably as an exhausted attempt to aid independence in my hobbies) someone handed me a point-and-shoot film camera and told me to "go outside and take some photos"- well, that was it for me, I had a way to capture my life and that of those around me and I didn't look back. To all of my subjects (read: siblings, cousins & friends) this is a public and official THANKYOU for putting on the makeup and dress-ups and posing in weird and wonderful ways for me, I wouldn't be where I am today without you all (also, I'm sorry, sort of...)

Beach scene with kayaks and beach toys scattered on the sandy shore.

Close-up of a red kayak on the beach shore with sunlit water in background.
Beachside portrait with sunglasses and baseball cap against blue water backdrop.

Black and white sequence showing someone swinging on a playground swing set casting long shadows.

So why is documenting life so important?

Because our memories fade

(especially when we become mothers!)

But if we have a visual representation of our lives, it actually does a few cool sciency things (bear with me)

It gives us and our kids an emotional anchor.

But what does that mean Em?

Well, I'm so glad you asked,

  • It's observable proof of love, family & community
  • It shows that you belong to something
  • And it's proven to shape identity and self-worth

By getting photos (and printing them) you're building your family a visual heritage for generations to come!

FAQ

Do you travel for photoshoots?

Yes absolutely, I love to travel, I want to come visit you wherever you are - if that means getting on a plane? Just try and stop me! Get in touch via email and I'll give you a direct quote.

What should we wear for our session?

I can't stress this enough - be true to who you are and your own personal style! Don't try and mimic trends if they don't align with you personally. I'm always free to help with suggestions if needed, just sing out. Colour, pattern, netural - there's no wrong answer, maybe just don't do all white shirts and denim bottoms - that look should stay in the 90's.

How long do photoshoots take?

Generally I will get everything I need (and then some) within an hour. But if we need more time to move between locations or if you're kids/baby are unsettled then that is absolutely fine and we'll just roll with it on the day.

Do you offer albums or prints?

Yes I offer two different print packages that I can arrange for you, alternatively every gallery has its own personalised print store linked at the top where you can pick and choose products to suit.

Can we reschedule?

Yes! If we are in for bucketloads of rain or similar poor weather situations we can reschedule to my next available date. Likewise, if your family or I come down with sickness.

Please note if you decide to cancel last minute without wanting to reschedule your initial deposit will not be refunded (further information is included in my client contract)

Does pineapple belong on pizza?

Yes. It does. No notes.
